Top Shots from Twenty Thirteen

What I like most about this year’s crop of photographs is the variety.  This post started out as a top ten list of photographs of 2013.  But it soon evolved into a photo-collection that reflects an incredibly diverse and active year.

Old interests in photographic series, like dance, corporate library photo-shoots and model portfolios have resurfaced, while new photography opportunities have been presented.  This year’s photographs include more editorial work for big companies like Quest Diagnostics and OldCastle, pharmaceutical companies, energy companies and ski companies — not to mention a plethora of executive portraits for some of the top CEOs from a wide cross-section of businesses.  In short, my job is a blast.  I get jazzed with every gig, big or small.

The collection of top 2013 photographs demonstrates I feel as comfortable in the plush boardroom with CEOs, in a construction yard or with roughnecks.  The goal is always the same — to reach in and allow my clients to portray themselves as they are.

Twenty-Thirteen …(still sounds like a future date) ended with a personal sadness so deep, I could hardly force my mind to focus on the task at hand.  The passing of my sister Olivia gripped my whole family and she will be forever missed.  Olivia was one of the people I could ask to critique my work.  I miss that.  I miss you Olivia!  She’d be the first to see it — how much fun I’ve had in 2013 with new work and diversity of clients.

Technically, this was a 2012, photograph. But it wasn’t published until 2013.

I love the unique style of this executive portrait. John Cleveland of SFC Energy was so interesting to photograph that I never noticed his shirt sleeves were unbuttoned.
