One of the most fun parts of being a photographer is scouting out locations for the next photo shoot.  There’s no pressure, no time crunch and no one is watching.  It’s a time for planning and experimenting.

And I’m surprised that it never dawned on me to blog about the times I spend scouting locations.  As a long time Denver photographer, I know the city pretty well.  But there are thousands of Denver locations that I don’t know and millions of angles yet to be discovered.  Business photography in Denver Colorado is never dull.

This upcoming Colorado corporate photography photo shoot is for SFC Energy Partners. They are looking to update several head shots for their website and add some new faces.  SFC Energy consists of a cohesive team with more than 100 years of combined experience and integrates a blend of investment, technical, business and operating skills that have produced a strong record of accomplishment.

Katie and Ben are soon departing for Japan where they’ll be teaching English.

So we decided to do their engagement session this winter.
The cold February day didn’t dampen their sprits at all
as we captured these remarkable expressions.
Denver photography for engagement pictures was never more fun.

Denver Montclair International School (DMIS), the region’s oldest international school, is renovating one of the former Lowry Air Force Base buildings on the school campus.  DMIS celebrated the groundbreaking of this renovation with Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Denver City Councilwoman Mary Beth Susman and Colorado State Senator Pat Steadman Monday morning.

Mayor Michael B. Hancock spoke at the event about the importance of education and the redevelopment of the City and County of Denver, including the historic Lowry neighborhood. DMIS 6th graders addressed the crowd in the four languages of the school; English, French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.

Adam Sexton, director of DMIS, opened the ceremony
proudly announcing that the school has been ranked as one of the top ten Spanish language-immersion schools in the nation.
Interestingly, DMIS is the only school of the group
not located on either the east or west coast.

The new addition to the DMIS campus will be the renovation
of what was called the “peacekeeper” building.
.
Throughout the existence of Lowry Air Force base (1938-1994), the “peacekeeper”
was home to the Air Force Military Police.
Remnants of the holding cell jail bars which still exist in the basement of the building
will be maintained to discipline unruly students, Sexton joked.
.
But the real plans for the building include a full cafeteria, science labs
and classroom for the growing middle school.  A newly landscaped park will link
the space between the ECE building and the revamped peacekeeper site.

I used three strobe soft boxes on the left of the group and one fill jumbo umbrella just off my right shoulder for fill.  The set-up took about an hour for the 4 minute photo-shoot.  The judges were on a strict schedule and as professional photographers Denver based, it’s important to work within the timeframe available.

Executive photography in Denver

  • Priscilla - This is so packed full of great tips. And the model photography on your main site there at deCrocephotography.com is stunning. And the tutorial on photography is great. I wasn’t at all concerned about the model (although she’s pretty). I just wished it included more of the executive portraits thank you!ReplyCancel

This family home photo-session was a blast.  As a longtime Denver photographer it was great to connect and  photograph this lively group.
